Default Roger Soundlab Speakers

I am looking to sell an old pair of rather large RSL speakers. The RSL logo is displayed on the front wood trim, but there is no indication of model number, serial number etc. anywhere. I pulled off the cloth front screen, and was shocked to discover that the "woofers" were actually false paper mock-ups. No wires or electronics were attached. The tweeter & mid-range speakers sound fine and function properly. This one really has me baffled. Why would a manufacturer go to the trouble of building large speaker enclosures like these without the necessary horse power? If any of you has a clue, please let me know! Seriously.

Anyway, the pair of speakers is for sale for $20, local pickup only in West L.A.

Those are passive radiators. It was a big fad in the seventies. Those are actually “2 way” with a radiator for enhanced bottom.

RSL always used a true woofer along with a passive radiator.

That was their "Formula" Series!!

TOM@METRO and TVPostSound - Thank you so much for the info! I hoped that there was some sort of explanation out there. I will sleep much better tonight. Happy Holidays everyone.
