Default PT 11.3.0 with V-Control - HUI Error

Hey All,

I am trying to get V-Control ( https://www.neyrinck.com/v-control-pro ) to work with PT11.3.0 and I keep getting the following HUI error:

Pro Tools is unable to communicate with HUI. Power-cycle HUI and check it's connections."

Running latest V-Control Pro v1.8.0.1 and latest Ney-fi v1.8.0.1 and I followed the setup protocol from their website. Both programs are running as administrator. Midi Peripherals and Midi Input are setup properly within PT as per the Neyrinck website.

#1 - HUI - Receive V-Control - Send to V-Control - #Ch's 8
#2 - SurroundPanner - Receive V-Pan 1 - Send to V-Pan 1 - #Ch's 0
#3 - SurroundPanner - Receive V-Pan 2 - Send to V-Pan 2 - #Ch's 0

**Note I have tried disabling the SurroundPanners as suggested in other threads on the DUC.

Anyone have any luck getting this working with PT11? I see on the Neyrinck forum that others are having this issue as well.

Andrew

Works fine for me are you sure you have your computer selected in the V control app prefs. Launch V control and tap on the little fly wheel in the lower left hand corner and mac sure your computer is selected the app usually starts off with non selected, also make sure pro tools is selected as your DAW. Maybe I am stating the obvious and you know this already but it works for me know issues.

Thanks for the idea, but yes all that is setup properly. That's why I find it so confusing...it's all set properly.

I tried reinstalling Ney-fi as per the instructions here https://forum.neyrinck.com/viewtopic.php?f=50&t=69

V-Control Pro can see my computer and Pro Tools is listed as the DAW. When I launch Pro Tools, V-Control actually shows the correct fader information of the current session, it just can't do anything. Then immediately after the session opens, I get the HUI unable to communicate message.

EDIT: I just tried to setup my MPK88 under Peripherals so I could try and get the knobs and faders to work and I get the SAME message! (without the HUI, but M-Audio Keyboard instead)

Is V-Control the only MIDI device connected to PT? And perhaps more importantly, is it the only HUI device. I remember reading that PT and V-Control do not work well together if there is another HUI device connected.

I have the Tascam DM-3200 mixer as my main control surface and use (or intend to use) V-Control for controlling plug-ins in PT. This arrangement works very well in Cubase 8 but does not work in PT. I'm going to try to fiddle with it on my system some more and will report.

V-Control is not the only MIDI device connected to PT. I have a few virtual ports (loopMIDI) setup for Lemur, and also my Akai MPK88 keyboard. Nothing else is setup as HUI though.

I had trouble keeping a connection going with V-Control Pro and solved it by creating an Ad Hoc network purely for use when I need to. Works solidly now.

Drop down the wifi menu option up in the toolbar, where there is an option, "Create Network...". It takes less than a minute.

I have had trouble getting this running !
I was running it on two PC's one would work the other I couldn't get faders and transport running the pc that worked I was running asio4all driver the other 003 rack ! What clued me into the problem was asio didn't have midi drivers 003 rack has them . All you have to do is disable avid midi.
Go to setup- midi input devices-on midi input enable only select
V-control & v-pan 1 & v-pan 2.
If I selected avid midi it stops working there must be a clash with avid midi drivers or something.
Hope this helps I spent days troubleshooting this trying everything on the forums and so on. Might save some people a big headache
Cheers Watto
