Error on First Open

Hey all, long time user who just reactivated. Installed current pro tool on a completely fresh Windows 10 install, first program added. Installed successfully, but receive the following error on launch:
Could not complete your request because Assertion in "d:\ code\ scm\ protools\ release\ 2020\ r1\ protools\ aae\ source\ aax\ cficaaxwidget.cpp", line 994.

Hi. I’m pretty sure this has something to do with your license.
Open the ilok license manger and activate the license to the cloud or your ilok.
Then try again.

Turned out to have to do with audio hardware, I was just checking it post install to make sure it started properly. Connected audio interface, held down N to select it, and was good to go.

Ah yes! That was the other thing... I’ve been trying to get students setup on their laptops recently and many were having that issue. I had forgotten we were having audio interface issues too. Sorry to put you wrong.

And yes, the error could be far more succinct!

It’s a shame that it’s 2020 and on the Windows side, we still don’t have an OS provided low latency audio framework. I assume the students with the issue it was on a PC, since the Macs built in audio is already Core Audio? A while ago the head of Windows Audio division was posting on Gearslutz, with a lot of good ideas. I’m assuming he was promptly fired for having them.
