making cables. what to do with drain wire?
so i'm making an 8 channel 1/4" TRS snake with mogami cable, and I started to make the cable's then i found an extra wire. there is the Pair for the + and - then there is the shield which is Copper then there is an extra wire which isnt even seperate from the ground wire but it is a silver color not sure of the type of metal. so i found out it is called a drain wire. do i just solder this to the ground also?
this is the only thing keeping me from making the snake because idk what to do with this wire

Re: making cables. what to do with drain wire?
I have only ever seen a drain wire with foil shielded cables, so I may be wrong (someone please correct me if I am), but I believe the drain wire connects to the ground, and you solder the drain wire to the ground pins on your connectors. With foil shielding you have to do this because you cut off the foil at the ends, but I don't know why they would have this if you have a braided copper shield already.
