Default compressed audio?

Im trying to import some AIFF files but they wont show up on the import list. It says some thing about "cannot import because it contains compressed audio" What does this mean?

I've never run into that one.

Maybe try converting 'em with another app first like Soundapp. It does SDII files. Not always successfully, but it does 'em. There's always iTunes too. It can convert almost anything it can see.

Not sure what that means. Were the files downloaded from a website? Maybe they're mp3 files? In which case they need to be converted. I don't belive that PT can work with mp3.

Quick Time Pro is a handy item to have for converting files. You can import an mp3, then export it as AIFF.

Like I said in my original post, they are .AIFF files already. And they are samples recorded to minidisk, then trasnsfered to cd. Ill see what I can do with iTunes.

umm, I'm not absolutely sure about this, but I think the mini disc format could be the problem, I copied the following from another site:
The ATRAC technique compresses the data by a factor of about 5 to 1. ATRAC is a "lossy" compression algorithm, meaning that it changes the music very slightly upon decompression. >

Hope this helps...
