Default Recording studio floor !

HI !!!

My recording room floor is wood . I mean fisrt concrete then 4" from floor and playwood and carpet.
Like a live stage whitout the carpet of course. I noticed when the drummer hit the kick there is a lot of resonance on the rest of the kit . specially on toms and floor . I think is the floor So im thinking is better o solid concrete floor ? Or i can just open my floor and fill the holes with sea sand and then place the playwood ??

Thanks !

Roughly what frequency is the resonance?
Are you sure it's coming from the floor?
Do you have rubber between the floor and the concrete?

I know that something was not right with my post ! jejejej

I mean that the vibration of the kick hit on the floor make the toms and the * floor tom * resonate !

Thanks !

If you built like tou describe without isolation between the 4", you have made strong ressonans boxes. (sorry for spelling. I'm norvegian ) I think almost any kind of isolation will help you, but maybe its best to stick with heavier stuff like rockwool. (or sand like you describe)
But the point is yes, you should open the floor and fill those holes.

Well it depends what you want to achieve.
I'd just fill the gap with some 2" rockwool or fibreglass, if it was really a problem.

But that won't stop your toms resonating, they are supposed to.
Is the kit in tune?

Hi !

I filled the gaps with sand under pressure ( sorry i said in post sea sand BUT it was regular sand ) and its me or i hear
the drum kit much more clear !

Why is this ? I mean acustically speaking why i hear the kit with more clarity in the room and the monitors !

Thanks !

I would tend to think you hear the kit more clearly because you are no longer hearing the floor.
