Exclamation WARNING: Pro Tools 10 for Windows is ABYSMAL.

Just thought I'd warn off anyone thinking about making the leap. What an absolute lackluster disappointment.

Error after error after error (coming from someone who's studied IT).

One day it works, the next it doesn't. So annoyed.

Don't bother if you're thinking about getting it, you'll regret it.

I'm beyond the point of wanting to fix it because I know it's just gonna keep happening over and over again.

You complain people patronize you while making threads like this. It's obviously user err if so many of us can run it day to day without a problem. You are not asking for help or saying what the problem is so not sure if you actually want anything other than to start ANOTHER complaint thread..... You are asking to be ridiculed.

I happen to think PT 10.3 is rock solid and up there w the best, and I have been working in PT since 5.1

What he said^^^^ I run PT10 HD day in and day out and love it. Maybe your computer is not tweaked or just plain not compatible? If you want help, ask the right questions and offer the right info.

So you're just going to keep starting new threads telling us how bad your experience was without actually attempting to do anything to fix it?

I'm 30+ years IT also (Systems/Architecture/Development), so I understand how frustrating this is.

However, I'm on Windows 7 (x64) with Pro Tools 10.3.2 and I have a stable system at this point. Now my system is dedicated to Pro Tools and I built the system. But at least it tells me Pro Tools 10 can be stable on a Windows system.

My system is not tweaked but I do run a separate drive for audio and both my HD 10 and plain 9 run fine on my laptop and desktop. My card is an Audiophile 192 that uses Avid drivers as opposed to ASIO. My laptop uses ASIO4All and that also works ok. Slow computer though and only one drive but it runs 10x better with another drive hooked into the eSATA port. No IT training. A little common sense though.

I run it on Windows 8, and 2 on windows 7. One is Dell laptop that's far beyond compatible. Your struggles are not the norm. Personally I have had only minor issues with Pro Tools since 7.4 on Windows.

Our PT10.3 W7 rigs run virtually "problem free" at least 16 hours per day.
