Default Distortion from 002R Left Monitor Output

I was mixing in Pro Tools (LE 7.4) and notice distorted (muffled) sounds coming from my left monitor (KRK Rockit 5). I was thinking it was a bad speaker/cable, but when I switched the cables to feed the opposite monitor, the right side now had the distorted sound. This also happen when I'm using the Core Audio as an audio out for Quiktime or iTunes. Does anyone know what might be the cause of the problem. Is my left monitor out bad? It also does it when I use headphones. The left side is disorted when I turn up the volume. I just recently purchased the 002R in October of 07, so it's still fairly new. Any suggestions?...

Just a thought ... I usually only track at the house and usually don't do any mixing ... so I often do not open a "Master Fader" while tracking .. usually control the volume from the 002's volume control ... I'm a guitar player so I'm always sitting in front of it ... in any case a while back I kept hearing some clipping on the right side .... all levels seemed ok .... after twenty minutes of scratching my head I opened a Master fader only to find I was clipping the right side with the "overall" output ..... DUH ... but we all have those moments .... so do you have a Master fader open ?

Good luck ....

PD

Ok. I figured it out. I had just set up my gear through a patchbay and found out that my main outputs were normalled when they shouldn't be. The outputs were feeding right back into the inputs causing the output to distort. Duh. Mixes are coming out clean now.
