Its a TDM and HD only software feature that analysizes a song and meters the session according to the beat, thus the name beat detective.

Its great...why??? Well it illiminates the need for a click track. Sure it is better to track with a click, but if you are doing live music and want to do some killer post production it saves hours of time pointing out each individual beat through the recording. Many times live its hard to tell when or how many times a song gets off beat because everybody compensates for it, but try to add loops and you will have headaches for days.

I wouldnt expect beat detective for le for at least another 2 or 3 years, but heres to wishing.

Christian

yo, the first guy on this topic said somethign bout the rumored "002 rackmount." is this really gonna happen? coz damn, i would want that.
and 6.1? can't wait for that to come out. it gives LE so many previously TDM only features, like voices! and time compression/expansion in the main edit window.

Hello. Kmshroom, the rackmount 002 has literally been talked about since the very day the 002 was released. About 3 to 4 weeks ago it received heavy discussion. Apparently someone with 'reliable sources' said it would happen. If you want to search I believe it was called Rackmount 003 or Digi 003. My position is I won't believe it until I see it. But I will say that in the last year Digidesign has done two things that would fall in the above Doubting Thomas category. ASIO and the upcoming SMPTE for LE. So I guess it is possible. And actually, I never thought a rackmount 002 was ever impossible; I always felt it is a pheasible thing. So for all we know it will happen.

As for voices, it's not the full TDM capabilities. You can't assign voices individually, or put multiple tracks to one voice. So it's not that useful. All it will do is assign 32 voices o the first 32 tracks. If you have more than 32 tracks, they will not playback, and the only way to hear them is to move them to first 32. So it's not quite what you may be expecting.

Of course it will have bugs.

Digi fixes the big bugs before releasing it to us. We get it, find all the rest of the bugs, complain about em on the DUC and whalaa......An update becomes available.

Gotta love it.

ps Apples don't suck, but their prices sure do.
