NEED HELP installing wave driver and possibly more

Ok this is gonna be a long one with a few different questions.

I haven't been able to get the wave driver 5.3.1 to install. I followed the directions but still no luck. I've even uninstalled pro tools and reinstalled still no luck. Here is a little more info on my situation and a past problem that I had.


I recently bought a used digi 001 bundled with pro tools LE 5.1.1 The person i bought it from was running it on a mac, so obviously he never downloaded updates for windows. I can't seem to find the drivers for the 001 for XP on the digi site anywhere. The Pro tools LE 5.1.1 CD won't install on my computer since it was made for windows 98. I've downloaded 5.3 off of the digi site, but the drivers still won't install for the 001. I've tried using the drivers that came with it for win 98, but no luck either. Also evertime I try to run pro tools it crashes and restarts my computer.

I have since gotten pro tools LE 5.3.1 install and it seems to function properly, but there is still the ocasional crash, only during playback it hasn't happened during recording, yet. I'm wondering if all of the drivers have actually been installed properly. I ran digitest it passes the 001 card but does not allow me to check I/O box (yes it was hooked up).

1) What are the names of the dirver files and where should they be located? I just want to make sure that the 001 is properly installed

Now back to the wave driver. I donwloaded the wavedriver 5.3.1 off of the digi website. I follow the installation directions exactly, but when I get to the step after the digital signiture part they say "The Digidesign WaveDriver Settings dialog will automatically open" this never happens it just goes right to "you must restart your computer for changes to take effect" When I look in the device manager the wave driver is listed, but under device status it says " no drivers are installed for this device."

I am not sure what to do about this at all. I want to upgrade to PT LE 6.4 but I don't want to waste the money if it turns out that there is something wrong with the 001 box or card.

Any help would be greatly appriciated here. I've tried everything I'm getting desperate, I know that this is probably not the answer but i am considering deleting everything and reloading windows. So please help me if you have any suggetions

If you don't have Pro Tools 5.x installed on your system.. then download and install the WaveDriver 6.1.1 and ASIO 6.1.1 drivers. You just can't install these versions if you have Pro Tools 5.x installed.. so if you do uninstall them first and delete the file dalwdm.sys if it's on your system before installing the 6.1.1 versions.
