Default HDX Card DigiFlex Cables

Hi,

So HDX cards come with what look like mini SATA cables as their DigiFlex cables these days and look like this:

Obviously these cables are very short and require you to have two or more PCIe X4 slots next to each other on your motherboard, which most PC motherboards do not have (there's usually a gap with a x1 slot between most x4 upwards slots).

So my question is has anyone actually tried using a normal hard drive SATA cable so they can place more than one HDX card in a machine that does not have X4 or greater slots next to each other?

Thanks!

I have a feeLing you are in uncharted terratory. I thim it has a good chance of working. FYI lots of modern motherboard have 2 or more pcie slots together. My last 3 comps have 7 adjacent pcie x 4 or greater next to eachother.

Yes I'm with you in regards to betting it would work I'm just wondering if anyone has actually tried it really.
I'm aware of suitable boards it's just more of a thought that if this works it would open up the options a little wider, I'm thinking out loud really but couldn't help thinking it surely must be an option.
