Default bios says raid is disabled but maybe not?

just built a i7 rig and I am getting some buffer under-runs with ptle8, when I check the hardware manager / under raid, it shows up working and the only other option it gives is to uninstall it. Can I do that? Can I uninstall raid if it is already disabled?

If I am not mistaken, you set your hard drive either to IDE or to AHCI (SATA) or Raid. Some controllers have to be set to JBOD (Just a Bunch Of Disks).
Maybe some of the i7 guys can chime in!

I would start to check there.

A RAID controller will often show up even if its set to IDE mode.

You best bet is to post in the exsisting i7 thread after reading the stickies on the top of the forum and then posting a Sandra report.

A lot of boards have more than one disk controller thses days. My advice is to read the manual and turn it off if your not using it.

If your not using a ATA optical drive you can probably disable the JMicron controller in BIOS.

All of you drives appear to have what are considered fairly small buffers these days.

these are the same drives I used when I had ptle7.4 with a core 2 duo. 32tracks with lots of plugins and no errors. No I get errors with 10-12 tracks no plugins and ptle8.

Note the differences? (BIOS, SATA controller, Vid card + vid card HD audio)

I have definitely noticed that it is necessary to disable the LAN when using this board, but otherwise, I do not have any problems with it.

Have you updated all of the drivers?
What are your BIOS settings?
