Default snow leopard pre-release

My PC crashed and died. I am considering buying a new Mac with "Snow leopard." I understand Pro tools does not work with a 64 bit system. The Mac store guy says pro tools just made availabe a "pre-release" version for Snow Leopard. (I have been using a PC with M Box 2/LE 8.)

Questions: Has anyone tried the "Pre-release version" pro tools for Snow Leopard? Does it work? Are there any downside risks? Or... Should I wait till it is authorized.

Thanks for any imput!

There is a section of the forum dedicated to the pre-release:

You are in a difficult spot for purchasing a Mac right now. It is hard to say when the final compatible release will come out.

Read through the others' threads and see if you are willing to take the chance that it won't work for a few weeks..

Also, Apple is revamping the Mac line in the next month or so. Meaning, all the current Macs will be more powerful in about a month. Best to wait until then, (if you can) because all the current Macs will be cheaper, and if you want to buy the newest of the new, you will get more bang for your buck.

Of course any time you buy a new computer its a guarantee that the new model will come out within a month, so just buy a computer when you need one. If you're buying a Mac Pro (tower) then you can install 10.5 on a partition and run protools just fine.
