Default Feature Request: Import audio from current movie...

Importing the audio from the current movie places the audio in the bin.

It would be much more intuitive if that audio was placed on a new track adjacent to the movie.

The most common need for that audio is for a guide track, perhaps for the placement of sync dialog, SFX, or music. By placing it in the bin, it requires many more steps to place the audio track along side the picture, and if a crappy video editor didn'g give you a 2-pop, you're guessing at the sync.

Thanks,
Michael Coyle

Michael,

Easy workaround. Just place the audio file at the same start frame as the video file.

True, but it _is_ a workaround.

You know how if you split a stereo track into two mono tracks, ProTools creates two new, correctly named tracks adjacent to the original. This is how movies should work too.

Any workaround (and there are many variations) require many more key strokes. For example:

-Create new audio track
-Import audio from current movie
-Select Shuffle (this snaps audio to zero
-Drag audio from bin onto new track
-After Spotting movie, spot audio.

When it could be:

-Import audio from current movie

Michael

Michael, it's great to see your posts about addl. features. All good .. it's just that I've seen them all here before. I think I asked for this one about 3.5 years ago. Keep 'em coming.
