OMS names vs Free Midi names
I just got around to configuring OMS names for all my keyboards & modules and of course many of them (even the XV-3080) aren't listed in the OMS Factory Names folder - so I downloaded Free Midi just to access their very substantial patch list documents - put their Default names folder in my system folder - but I can't subcribe to any of their patches using OMS names because the Free Midi patch lists are simple text documents. Is there a way to "convert" these to OMS names documents or something OMS names will recognize? Or any other work around that will get these patch names into my Midi configuration? Has anyone else tried this?

Re: OMS names vs Free Midi names
Open your default patch names that you saved in DP into Simpletext. Delete any spaces between banks. Delete all quotation marks etc. Basically all you want end up with is a list of the patch names. Select all and copy the list. Open OMS Names ( included on you ProTools CD) All synths in your OMS Setup should appear. Double click the center column ( Patch Name Document) next to the target module.
Under the Patches Menu paste your names. Save a close OMS Names and drag your new Patch names document into System Folder/OMS/Factory Names. |

Re: OMS names vs Free Midi names
thanks for the info rotten - I understand the concept - unfortunately when I tried to open the XV-3080 document in Simple Text, it told me the document was too large to open! Soooo - I recently aquired BBedit - I think I can use that to do the same thing? Have to check the manual out.
