Default Does New Hardware include 9?
The title says it all. Does the new firewire MBox 3rd gen include Pro Tools 9?

The latest information on the Avid Website indicates PTLE software.

They all include LE through the end of the year. When this initial batch is gone, the new Mboxes will come with no software and still be the same price. At that point you will just buy PT9 separately for full price. Avid will be marketing these Mboxes as interfaces only.

Really?! is this true?! I was planning on waiting until Feb/March time-frame to build a computer capable of handling PT and then buying one of the new MBoxes. If by that time the new Mbox won't come with software and will still cost the same, then I'd be better off buying one now, with the software, even though I don't have a computer capable of running it, since the upgrade will be cheaper than buying the "whole" PT 9 in the spring . . . seems a bit daft . . .

So does this mean there will be no more software related "bundles" offered that include plugins, etc?

There doesn't seem to be any bundles in the plans right now. No factory bundles, and the Music and DV toolkits are now defunct, so no bundling there. And the Complete toolkit doesn't include all the plugins that were formerly there.

So for now, Ebay, the DUC, and airusersblog are the place to go.

Can you say "paradigm shift" ? We all have to clear our heads of the old DIGI/AVID way of doing biz. Obviously it will take a while to get in the groove with the "new rules".
