Digi MUST give Time Code ruller for free!!!
Digi LE comunity! We must force Digi to release the Time Code ruller function as well as Digitranslator and not to sell it for $1000. Uptodate there is NO other audio-pro software which would not include these functions for free. Logic, Digital Performer, Nuendo, Cubase - all of them have Time Code ruller and ability to import OMF's with no extra charge! And only Digi wants us to buy this premitive option for the price...of ...lets say Logic 7!
I am an old an experienced user of PT. Mostly I work on the TDM (where somehow they did include TC), but it makes me creazy when coming back home I cannot see " 25/24 lines per second separators ". Digi please give us at least using up to 1500 b/sec tempo setting! Don't be so greedy!!! Other wise you probably will soon face people going toward Logic as soon as it's getting a greater options compare to Pro Tools. Love Pro Tools but don't like crime!

Re: santa\'s wishlist
i agree. a timecode ruler would be swell, as well as everything else mentioned, but i doubt it will ever happen.

Re: santa\'s wishlist
Not a full solution, but if you want to see your timecode position in an LE session, install the freeware app TCounterX from http://www.sonoria.pl/jk/apps.html - so you'll at least be able to click anywhere and get the exact position.

Re: santa\'s wishlist
I doubt that DIGI will ever give us TIme code for free now that they are making people pay for it. All the people who have already bought it will complain and they would have every right to. I do think that Surround and non real-time bounce options should be given, though.
Here's an idea that is a compromise. What if DIGI included surround for LE as part of the DV Toolkit? You'd still pay the $1000, but you'd get surround with it. All registered owners of the DV toolkit would get surround as a free download. It's a compromise that we shouldn't have to make, but it seems like money is the only way that DIGI will really listen to the LE customers. |

Re: santa\'s wishlist
Well, once upon a time the SMPTE timeline WAS included with Pro Tools LE. It's been so long that I cannot recall what version that it changed in. (V4 maybe?) What I do recall is when they took away the SMPTE timeline, we also went from 8 voice (I think) to 24 voice capability...While we all screamed about the missing SMPTE, the extra voices pretty much made it worth it.
Also by eliminating the SMPTE timeline, it was perceived that LE could no longer act as a slave to any external timecode. (which was not true) But that's the "rumour" that was going around. If you really need to spot to SMPTE TC, there is this utility for $20 available: http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/12172 |
