I thought all 2.5" HD were compatible? Thanks for the heads up. Was going to upgrade the HD in my PS3 with a 1TB, will have to do some more checking to make sure I get the right one now.

Are you sure it was the 2.5 inch 1TB?

It's brand new... but realistically, not a great drive for anything other than storage. It's only 5200 RPM and kind of expensive at that. 5200RPM with only 8mb cache for a full TB just sounds like a sluggish system drive to me. That being said... it should definitely fit in a Macbook.

Most people are sacrificing drive space for raw speed by replacing Macbook system drives with SSDs and seeing insane performance differences. I'm still not sold on the reliability or pricing of SSDs, but my system drive is a 320GB 7200 rpm, while my externals are 500GB 7200 for samples and sessions, and a 2TB 5400 for storage. Your best bet for performance from any good setup is to keep the system drive small and clean.

Absolutely sure. The sata arrangement is different on the 3.0 to the 2.0 on the WD anyway. Definitely will not work. Size wise tho it's a perfect fit.

That makes absolutely no sense.

I don't see a WD SATA3 (6 Gb/s) in a 2.5" even the blacks are SATA2
I see PATA, SATA1 (1.5 Gb/s) and SATA2 (3 Gb/s)

and were is this USB 3.0?

Google "Brian Hulnick"

He is a shill for "recording connection"

He and his cadre of fake users, like dannyj88, are in a web campaign to try and build some credibility through the shear volume/mass of "reputable" posts. You'll notice the pattern in the forums where BH posts...

The only 1TB 2.5" drive they have is SATA2 Scorpio Blue.

If it doesn't fit, your Macbook doesn't have SATA.

How does one expect to build credibility by posting complete nonsense?

Don't attack me just because I report an issue I had with a hard drive. I purchased the drive from amazon.com as I was told that you could use the unit inside as a replacement for the drive inside a MBP. I removed the drive from its enclosure, however it would NOT connect to the sata interface on the MBP. Here is the link for the drive, although I paid $127 just before Christmas.
