Re: will I ever be able to FW800 with mbox2pro..?
You could use a cable 400 <–> 800.
That means its running in 400 mode, which is more than enough for transfer. Actually I have experienced 400 to be the best choice. I kind of feel its more stable. I have both options right now, but I prefer 400. BTW... Both 400 and 800 at the same time into your Mac. is not a good choice. Not if you run them simultaneously. Good luck. yes
get a firewire 800 card connect the digi gear to your computer FW connectors and use the new card inputs for you 800 drives. I do it with a PPC g5 quad. |

Quote:
Get a dual interface drive (FW 400 and 800). Plug the drive into the FW 800 port on your computer. Have nothing plugged into the FW 400 port of the computer. Plug your interface into the FW 400 port of the drive. Daisy chain any other FW 400 devices either through a hub or through the interface. Now go to your system profiler and check your Firwewire settings. You should see your drive enabled to FW800 speed and any other devices enabled at FW 400 speed. Plugging anything into the FW 400 port on the computer will bring the entire FW bus down to FW 400 speed. This includes any laptop PCMCIA FW 400 adapter cards, so don't use them. I have used this with MOTU interfaces without any apparent problems. Haven't tried it with any Digi interfaces, so yur mileage may vary. Easy enough to hook up and test, though. Bob

Re: will I ever be able to FW800 with mbox2pro..?
i am going to upgrade from my M-box 2 Pro to the 003 factory.
my one concern is that i am using an imac right now. the main reason i am hating the mbox 2 pro is that it has problems with FW800 drives. does anyone know if the 003 has this issues as well? that would suck |
