Mbox 2 Died!

The lights went out and no sound.
I replaced the usb cable and used different ports. No difference.
I've been using it for 3 and a half years now in a smokeless environment with no problems, all of a sudden....

Any ideas? Is this normal after so many years of use?

I had this issue a few months ago..
Only thing that finally helped was reinstalling Protools..

What's your setup? When recently upgrading to v8.0, my Mbox2 (and an Mbox 2 Micro as well) showed no sign of life at all. The Mbox 2 is two and a half years old, the Micro is new. I called tech support, and after trying the things you've already mentioned (different usb cable, different ports), the tech guy recommended reinstalling Pro Tools (clean uninstall, and that worked out perfectly.

Try going to the apple menu on the upper left of your screen, click on "about this mac" (or whatever it says in English), then again on "more info". In the menu to the left, click on USB. Can you find your Mbox 2 somehow or -where there? I could, though the Mbox2 seemed dead to me. Still, reinstalling was the trick for me. Good luck!
