Default Automation Shortcuts

First of all, I want to share a great shortcut I recently learned:

To quickly automate a plug-in, hold down CTRL OPTION COMMAND and click on the parameter you wish to automate. Select Enable.

I now have a question. Is there an easy way to make global changes to volume aqutomation. Specifically, here's a scenero: I have a track with lots of volume automation. I would like to lower the overall volume of the entire track. Is there a shortcut to do this in the Mix window,ie,without going to the Edit screen and scaling the automation.

One other quirky question: When I solo a track, an un-solo'd track will also play. Any ideas?

This same question popped up recently. Here's the poetic and oh-so-cool reply from lcouri :

Select the 'clip' tool (in between the magnifying glass and the standard cursor button) and go to0 the end of the waveform which has been automated. follow the automation line past the end of the waveform and apply the cursor (with the clip setting) to the line. Once the cursor 'changes' over the line, click the mouse and you should notice the entire line become dotted .... now you can raise or lower the overall level. Save first then fool around with this for practice ....

Lately, I've been saving my favorite posts on a sticky on my desktop. Makes it easy to locate those gems that come about frequently 'round here...

Not that i've noticed, it's just a gain adjustment.

You can also accomplish the same thing if you're using any EQs or any other plugs that have an input or output level adjustment (like the waves ren. EQ). Just bring down the level of one of those global paramaters, and you've got a 'master' gain control for that track.

The shortcut has been omitted from LE... one of many automation shortcuts. It is called Trim Automation and it's great. As it is, you have to mouse around with little fingers and the trim tool.

Slim- I thought the Trim plug was TDM only. What version of LE are you using?
