Default Switching from Mbox Mini to 003 hardware

So I'm getting an 003 to replace an MB mini. PC is a Vista Gateway 5622 running PT 7.4 cs7 set up as a music record rig. No real issues with this rig but the MB/USB does choke a lot when it's first started (involves a lot of buffer tweaks and then it settles down) whatever on that, so I'm moving on to an 003 for this issue and of course the added i/o, converters, use of FW buss, etc. BTW this is my 3rd system online...I run a 7.3.1 HD rig on a trusty old Dual 2.75 G5 and a mobile Macbook Pro (7.3.1 PT le) that used to see this MBox mini and now sees the Micro...both of these are Sound Edit rigs...my money machines.
I'm wondering what hoops I have to jump thru on switching over to this hardware. Do I have to uninstall PT and install with the 003 attached to the rig?...I bet I do but I'd love some real world experience and or tricks to do this without the uninstall/install routine...I'm getting so lazy.

THX, Wilson Dyer mpse

One more thing, not that it should matter but the 003 is the rack version.

TP, you may be pleasantly surprised! (but I'm not going to guarantee anything) when I upgraded from MBox 2 to my 003 ALL I did was hook up the new hardware. Upon startup Windows found new hardware and asked for the the disk to locate the new drivers. This took about 30 seconds...Then after reboot PT asked if I wanted to upgrade to newer ver. (I think maybe I went from 7.1 to 7.4 or something.) All in all it took about 3 minutes and everything was still there! (Plugs and stuff) Hope it works for you.

You have given me new found hope my friend...I will boldly go! I'll report back here upon success or failure. Won't know for a week or so until the 003 gets here. Thanks a bunch!

ALSO, you may want to wait for the 003+ factory. At the time it wasn't available but I wish It would have been. The 8 pre's look good...

There's a link to the 003R+ product page (including pictures) right on the Digidesign front page.

Here's another link, since you seem to have missed it.

Dang...I must be so out of the loop. I'm still chugging along happily with 7.1.....looks interesting though. Seems a rack version that could do 2 ADAT ins with no pres may have made a bit more sense for most people. Oh well...thanks for the link!
