Default Installing HDX card in my new Mac Pro mid 2012

Configuration
  • Two 3.06GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon
  • 12GB (6X2GB)
  • ATI Radeon HD 5870 1GB
  • 1TB 7200-rpm Serial ATA 3Gb/s
The video card uses the only 2 power connectors, that I can see, on the board. I need 1 for the HDX card. New card? Am I missing something? There are no Thunderbolt connection on this Mac Pro, so I can't use the new Thunderbolt expansion chassis from sonnet or magma.

WHAT DO I DO?

Will the Magma ExpressBox 2 (1U) or the Magma ExpressBox 1 work?

The HDX Card comes with a power connector adapter that Y's into the one that goes to the video card. You're good to go!

Nope, it doesn't. It comes with an power adapter that goes male from the MB to male to the 3HDX card power links. I'd need an adapter or something, the other cord it comes with is for the PC.

other ppl having this problem.

All necessary cables comes with the card, if you bought it new. I had no issue installing mine in a new Mac Pro.

Incorrect, the newest Mac Pro with the Radeon 5780 upgrade is different. The ATI card takes both the power cords from the MB. I ordered a splitter, will update when it comes.
