Default Pro Tools 8 LE won't install
Eh, I'm having a hard time installing Pro Tools onto this Mac. I don't know anything about the Mac system. I've been PC all of my life.

This is a MacBook Pro 15" running on Mac OS X 10.5.8 (from "About This Mac")

I've used Pro Tools 8 LE on my PC before, now I want to install it on the Mac.

This is what I'm getting when I put the Pro Tools 8 LE DVD into the Mac and try to install:

Operation could not be completed. (com.apple.installer.pagecontroller error -1.)
"Could not install "Install Pro Tools LE.mpkg"

Any help or insight would be appreciated.

Sounds like you might have a bad dvd.

Your best bet would be to register your copy (if you haven't already) and download a full installer from your Avid account.

I do remember registering this when I first installed it. How would I go about downloading it from my account? Better question: What account? Lol, this is my first time hearing of that. It sounds like a lifesaver.

You should have a downloads section available to you with all eligible downloads of Pro Tools versions.

Yea, I'm there... I don't see it.

However, I still have a copy of my registration confirmation that was sent to me. I have all of my original paperwork, I just can't find where I'm able to redownload it.

I have no idea how to check that. I'm completely Mac illiterate.

I do see that my icon inside the DVD folder looks different that the icon on the pictures in the setup guide that came with Pro Tools.

I don't know how to print screen, or else I'd show you. It looks like an opened cardboard box with other boxes inside of it. The icon inside of the setup guide looks like an opened cardboard box with the Pro Tools icon in it.

The Uninstall option works, for whatever reason. It's just the install one doesn't work.

So now I just put my Pro Tools 8 LE DVD disc into my PC and I'm going to try to copy the contents from it to my external hard drive. Then I'll plug my external hard drive into my Mac and install it from there.

That should work, in theory, right?

Because a DVD is nothing but transportation source for the files anyway, right?

I used to burn sessions onto DVD's when I didn't have an external.

Didn't work... Everything was all exe when I opened it up on my Mac.

Why the hell does this disc work on PC but not Mac?
