Default Pro Tools SHUTS DOWN MY Allenstein!!! Please help!

Hey Helpful people...

I just built a new Allenstein computer:

Asus A8V-E SE
AMD xp 3000 Chip
1 Gig Ram
2x 80 Gig Seagate Disks 7200 rpm

So I installed the card first. Then I started my computer. Then when it asks if I want to install hardware, I put the PT 6.1 install cd in. Then everything goes fine.... I then plug my 001 in. Then I double click on PT and it completely crashes. The screen goes black and I don't even see a digi logo. Then my computer shuts off. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE FIGURE THIS OUT??? I have two partitions. I tried install on both partitions and the same thing occurred.

Thanks for the help.
Jeff

Are you running XP Service Pack 2? (sounds like it...)

The first version of PT that was qualified to run on SP2 is 6.4, so you are going to need to upgrade. Follow these procedures:

Download and install 6.4 (it's a free update from 6.1.1)

Download and install the 6.4cs6 plugin update (again, free)

Download and install the 6.4cs9 update (for use with SP2)

and lastly, Update your PACE drivers.
