Transferring ownership of eleven rack

I sold my eleven rack and I have the 'Digi Hardware transfer of ownership Program' form. Is this the only way to transfer ownership? Can't I do it online, and where exactly am I supposed to send this form? thanks.

Also, can the eleven rack with Pro Tools 8 be installed on OSX Lion yet? I sold my unit and didn't know the owner couldn't install PT 8 on OSX Lion and now I'm in trouble as I bought an upgrade to PT 10 when i was using a PC and recently switched to Mac.

I believe you are supposed to give the form to the buyer and they will scan it and send it to Avid.

Yup, this is it. I recently bought a used one and buyer sent this form filled out and I submitted everything. Worked like a charm!

This form states that Avid doesn't transfer ProTools LE licenses.

Pro Tools LE software registration is non-transferable. Avid does not transfer registered ownership of Pro Tools LE software to a new owner.

You will just give them the disc and authorization number that came with the Eleven Rack. They don't need to register anything online to get LE8 to open.

They can get already freely get the LE8 updates (ie 8.0.5), just give them the disc so they can install the full 8.0.1 or whatever came with your 11R.

There is no way to clearly transfer full ownership/upgrade rights for the Pro Tools software. But in practice it may not matter.

All you can do is give them the install media and all the other bits and bobs you have. I suspect the new owner may be able to upgrade to Pro Tools 11 using the Eleven Rack if they want to (since the upgrade keyed off that not the Pro Tools LE 8 software).

It sounds like the OP may have already used the serial number. He mentioned upgrading to PT10.

OK then, he gives that iLok to the new purchaser or electronically transfers the iLok asset to the new purchaser.

If not the old LE software may work in practice for the purchaser, they'll never be able to upgrade. OTOH the way to really sell this Eleven Rack if the iLok/PT 10 software is not included is to sell it without Pro Tools.

I have to sell mine with PT 8 LE since. Couldn't stomach the upgrade pricing and was one of the early adopters that paid for the expansion pack too.
