Default Where Can I Find the XPAND! Install CD???

Apparently, Xpand! is free but requires an install CD/DVD because of its 700MB of files.

Digi/Avid's new fulfillment operation in Argentina can't see it yet (they've only been on the job two months), and Sweetwater doesn't have it.

Apparently it comes with a small ($7) charge, and downloads for upgrades are free.

Apparently there are two versions, one for Tiger and one for Leopard, so machine and software specs are important too (mine are below)

Any help on finding the item?

Many Thanks

Blue Ridge

It did at one time come on a CD and you could get it from a local store. I had Guitar center find one for me back when I was using 7. You might just want to consider going to PT8 and Leopard as it's the furthest you'll be able to get with that G5.

thanks, Gothboy, I'm worried that PT8 will make my G5 even slower. I maxed out on memory but the CPU issues still arise on pretty small projects.

in fact that's why xpand is attractive - it'll save me from having to mount Reason to use its virtual instruments.

So ...

If anybody has that CD --which is still on Avid's "available" list (in Argentina) but is not yet on their shelves -- please advise here.

thanks

Well, Reason is pretty low on cpu power...surprisingly low...and is about as cpu unintensive as it gets. Even if you had Xpand! it wouldn't supplant Reason. Don't you have any other VIs'?

Do you have Linplugs' freeAlpha?

Thanks, I don't have free alpha - i note that it requires -

1. a Mac with at least Mac OSX 10.5 or a PC with at least Windows XP

I'll try going the Reason route for a while - i'm just looking for simple sounds, and the Reason Rack always confused me when i tried multiple instruments. great sounds, tho. And for a while I was collecting some of the fancy patches from various websites.

So far I've been using a Korg 0W/1 - i'm mainly an acoustic guitar player and aiming for acoustic, not electrical/techno, sounds.

Thanks

Good question, Filosofern - they've switched their fulfillment to Argentina, and the Gauchos there do not yet have it, altho it's in their database.

still looking!

Best
