Default Two Pro Tools and Two iLoks - Separate accounts?

I have two fully paid-for copies of Pro Tools and two iLoks.

IMPORTANT INFO - I am NOT trying to circumvent any licensing!
I tried searching for a response to my question, which must be a common one, but almost every respondee assumes that people are trying to use multiple iLOks with one license to get a freebie.

I bought Two Eleven Racks so I have two full versions of Pro Tools.

I have one copy already working with one iLOK - That was such a pain with the iLok (bad company!) that I do not want to break anything when I activate my other one.
My inclination is to create a whole new activation account with Avid and the same with iLok to keep the two copies separate and distinct.

It would obviously cleaner to add the new Pro Tools activation to my existing Avid account and add the new iLok to my existing iLok account.
I cannot help but think that everything will stop working if i do this and since iLok has ZERO tech support - No phone, no email, Nothing! - That would be a total disaster... At least I have one working copy now.

Any thoughts appreciated...

Hi,

2 iloks on the same account will be fine!

In fact 2 auth on the same ilok should work as the second one will be queued. but i agree for safety reasons i would use a second ilok but on the same account. just remove the first ilok with your first auth from your computer before activating the second auth/ilok etc.

This shouldn't be a problem to just add it to your existing account. I have had various duplicate licenses in my Ilok account over the years for various reasons and it's never been an issue.

However, is there a reason you want to activate it now, like to use Protools on 2 computers at the same time, or having a separate setup for traveling?

If not, you could sell the second activation code. Or hold onto it and don't register it until PT12 comes out. Then you will get PT12, and it will be like a free upgrade.

The iLoks have a hardware serial or address so you can use two of them on one account.

If you want to sell one license in the future, two accounts may be easier. Just give the buyer the account information and the iLok.

Cheers,

Moving back toward the original, but more implied than asked, question...

iLok rolled out new software right before the PT 11 release date. Unfortunately, the new software caused all kinds of problems with licenses that weren't recognized or that seemed to have disappeared. The new software was rolled out a couple of weeks before the PT 11 release, and the problems continued until sometime in mid-July.

But it appears the problems were fixed in mid-July, and that the iLok "system" has been working fine since then.

So, you should be fine adding the new iLok to your existing account...

I do not work for Avid (their loss)...my only relationship with Avid is that of a customer (when I'm not too poor to buy stuff, like now)...and that hot administrative assistant...that's more of a "thing" than a "relationship" (that should keep them guessing for a while...)

Just rockin'...what more is there?

alright I know the answer before I ask but, I bought another ilok so I could have my licence for pt12 on one for travel purposes. So I need another licence to accomplish this?
