Default OT- itunes playing at wrong (faster) speed???

I searched apple's site but found no answers.
A couple of times now my itunes has played back mp3 files( and audio cd's) at a faster speed. After closing the application, it seems to correct itself. Anybody ever encountered this problem?

By mistake, I recently was mixing a 48khz session while using my mini-me (spdif as a clock) set to 44.1khz. Could this somehow of affected my itunes application? If I trash prefs, do I lose all of my playlists?
thanks in advance

your external clock will affect playback. If coreaudio setup is set to "external" clock which it sounds like it is.

Bhennies - thanks for the idea but I don't think that's the problem.
I set my clock to "external/spdif" while using protools... but I always switch back to "internal" before quitting protools. I don't leave my mini-me powered up, so if I forget to switch back to internal clock, nothing works.
In other words, my itunes is acting up while my clock is set to "internal".
any other thoughts/ideas?

I found that if I use the ADAT input and external sync, iTunes does in fact play songs back faster. Open ProTools, select internal sync, and it will work fine. Quit PT and fire up iTunes.. should work fine then.

I dont think he was talkin about ProTools!Try the Audio-Midi setup located in Applications-Utilities!There is a setting there that allows to set whichever clock source is available!

Never used ADAT, never used SPDIF. Just a G4, an MBox and good ol' USB. But I DID find iTunes playing a faster speed. In fact, much to the amusement of the band members, some of the guitar licks sounded incredibly amazing! But it righted itself somehow, can't remember how it happened. Maybe I closed the program and/or the computer and re-started. So, unfortunately, I can't seem to be able to produce this effect on demand... weird, what?
