I don't believe the line-mic outputs are disabled when using the optical,
but again, I don't have the card yet, but I'll see what I can find out.

I have however used a phantom-powered mic (borrowed for a live gig), and the
unit allows you to turn phantom on individually per mic. I did not notice
any issues with additional noise... sounded pretty good actually.

Again, I'm happy with the unit.... but do I want a better one?
Yes, and I'm working towards it. But in the meantime, this unit had exactly
what I needed for low money, and I'd do it again.

Good luck with the search....

I'll be in London in April to see the re-formed Pink Floyd, and we're hoping
get to Ireland during that trip.

Yes, inside info from their management, the boys have settled disputes, no longer
hate each other, and have reformed.... they are in the studio now working on new
material, this should be good. They are planning on touring, starting with London,
and who knows where from there.

They have of course still been touring without Roger, and have been great, but having
them all together will be an event.

Sorry about the OT discussion, and again, good luck with the search.

Dave
