Default PT 9- Hardly functional, while rest of computer is fine

Hi everyone,

Maybe someone can help me with this.

I have been using PT 9 LE on my Macbook Pro for 2 years. I have had very smooth operation so far, aside from times where my sessions get quite loaded with plugins and occasionally getting either the (-6101) or (-9128) error: A CPU overload error occurred. This has been normally occurring now and again, but not to my detriment.

Until.....

A couple days ago, it happened (audio comes to a screeching halt, and -6101 or -9128 error comes up). But this time, it refused to play again. In fact, none of my sessions will play. -6101 comes up every time. Only sessions with very very few tracks and plugins will play, but the system is even sluggish to play those.

My computer is fine otherwise. Other programs work well with large loads (i.e.:Logic, IMovie). But as soon as I open PT, my cursor moves sluggishly across the screen, the sessions take longer than normal to load, and they refuse to play.

At first I was concerned that my computer processor, or sound card were damaged (could this be the case?) but considering that all else works fine, I wonder if something happened to the Protools engine itself.

I'm on Lion OS 10.7.2

Any thoughts? Please and thank you!

Hi, and welcome to these forums.

Try to do a search for "6101" or "9128" in the Knowledge base, and see if any solutions fit your setup.

There, you'll also find General troubleshooting (Mac).

Also, please check out the Help us help you info. It's easier to help when we have more information about your setup.
