Reinstalling PT 8
The internal hard drive on the iMac I use for PT8 got fried by a power surge during a storm. I got my iMac fixed, and now I'm about to reinstall PT8. When I log in to my Avid account, I see that among other things I have these downloads available to me:
PT LE 8.0 Full installer PT LE 8.0.3 Full installer PT LE 8.0.5 Updater So it looks to me like I can skip 8.0, I should install 8.0.3, then apply the 8.0.5, am I right? Keep in mind this is a fresh reinstallation completely from scratch. Thanks for your help! |

Re: Reinstalling PT 8
Yes, you need a full installer to begin with.
8.0 installer is there because if you have a PPC computer, that is the last compatible PT release.

Re: Reinstalling PT 8
Sure the iMac is fixed, but what version of OSX is it now loaded with? If its now updated to Mavericks, you could be SOL(you might want to follow the links to see which versions of PT work with which versions of OSX by clicking above where it says "Software Updates, Drivers......", or paste this in the address bar:

Re: Reinstalling PT 8
Thank you for your replies. And re: Mavericks, I knew well enough that Snow Leopard was the highest OS supported for PT8, but unfortunately the tech who sought to fix my iMac went ahead and upgraded to Mountain Lion without asking me, thinking he was doing me a favor. I didn't learn of the problem until after I got the iMac back home. I then learned after many attempts, much troubleshooting and research, that Mountain Lion can NOT be downgraded to Snow Leopard unless you have ANOTHER Mac drive with Snow Leopard installed on it, and then you migrate Snow Leopard from there. That said, I had to take my iMac back to the tech, who jumped through hoops for several hours only to come to the same conclusion, after which he installed Snow Leopard onto one of the many drives he had sitting around at his shop, and then performed the migration to my iMac like I told him to do in the first place. What a hassle all around. I'm just glad I had my sessions backed up to an external drive. Anyway, thanks again.
