ewql PLAY 64bit standard question...

Using EWQL Play in PT...

If OS is 64bit will the plugin use 64 bit, or only 32 bit? IE- is PLAY limited by the host's memory (PT x32), or by the system's memory (Win7 x64)

On EWQL compatiblity matrix, lining up PT and a windows 64bit OS just says "n/a"
The plugin is 32 bit compatible, so I assume the only way to use it in PT is as 32bit.

Is that right?

Afaik, play is still 32 bit, but runs fine on 64 bit os. Also play is capable of accessing ram outside of the app, therefore not limited by the host app. If you need more of the specifics you could go to the ew forum...

so running Play in PT in a 64 bit OS will make Play render in 64-bit, and then PT will will render to 32 bit for playback?

Cool. I guess Cubase is so f'n cool right now it's just another reason to get Cubase right now. I'm changing hosts!

If Avid gave a heads-up it would help. IE - "we're gonna release 9.x soon and include ADC"... or "We're finally gonna make this platform 64-bit like our competitors in 6t months"...

But they don't...

So punters like myself are constantly kicking their own asses, wondering why they never listened to their lecturer's advice to go to Cubase.

pt9 does have adc?! no one is forcing you to use pro tools, if cubase is better for you, just go use it, most of the people in the pro tools users forum tend to like pro tools, go figure.
