Converting from pc to mac! i need some help
Hi mac'ers!
I'm from over there (PC, Windows system), and after beeing a PC fan, let me say a stubborn PC user i've been, i've finally given in and understood how wonderful mac is. I'll buy a iMac and iMac pro within a few days/weeks. Just need to sell these *honk honk* pc's first. Ok, here is the part i need some answers; I got PT version 6.8.1, i've had PT upgraded to PTLE 7.0 on pc since it got released, and i know 7.0 wont cut it with OSX Leopard. So in that case i need to pay to upgrade it on mac? Will PT work on imac and macbook pro without any problems, or anything i should take under considuration? (prolly stupid question, but thats what i'm used to with pc ) PT will run fast on a iMac 3.06 Ghz, even with Leopard? Oh yeah, i got mbox2 thx in advance:) |

Re: Converting from pc to mac! i need some help
To use PTLE on OSX Leopard, you need PT 7.4.2 and OSX 10.5.4 minimum.
I think that you probably will need to pay to go from 7.0 to 7.4, but considering you just upgraded to 7.0 maybe you can get a deal.. I think I went from 7.3 to 7.4 for $50, maybe that would be your cost as well.. Only thing I can suggest for the iMac and MBP is to make sure you are using an external FW drive for audio recording. 2 Gig ram is pretty much a good starting point as well. I'm not aware of any specific incompatibilities..

Re: Converting from pc to mac! i need some help
I just got a MacBook Pro 15.4" Laptop. 2.4 Processor with 4 Gigs of ram.
Love it! I love the operating system. Simple! Running Pro tools 7.4.2 with Leopard 10.5.4. Transferring Pro Tools sessions back and forth from a PC and Mixing on the Mac with an MBox Micro. Also, just set up my 003 Rack for possible recording with the MacBook as well. Everythings working great so far. So far so good |

Re: Converting from pc to mac! i need some help
I made the switch from the Dark Side several years ago, I have never looked back!
I use both an MBP and IMac g5 and they are a dream. I mixed a score last week in 5:1 on a PTHD system on a PC, it was like stepping back in time reverting back to Windows. Forward!!
