Default Mellotron

Hi guys. I'm still pretty new to my LE system, and would like to add some Mellotron to my tracks (mainly the choir tape). What do you guys use? Thanks for any help!

I have access to a real Mellotron, but I have to drive two hours to get to it.

The Alesis QS6.2 has a decent Tron patch in it

Sonic implants has a collection called String Boxes, but you'll need a sampler to use them.

They've also got a stripped down Soundfont only version.

If it's the Tron choirs you are after, you can get them as a Sonic Reality Refill for the Reason 3.0 togehter with another selection of Choir sounds for very little money (398:- SEK) downloadable ONLY from their homepage...

<<I have access to a real Mellotron, but I have to drive two hours to get to it.>>

Used one once, but it wasn't pretty. They use optical disks similar to what cinematic films used before the days of Magnetic Tape Dolby. (they burned the sound signal into the film using a process that allows a varying amount of light to pass through it, and then a light-sensitive transducer reads it). If you recall how older (pre-60s) films sound, you know how a real Mellotron sounds. If you didn't take immaculate care of the disks they eroded quickly.

It sounds like the mello-t refill from from sonic is the way to go (only $29!). My question is do I have to have Rason 3.0 to run it? I have the Reason Adapted version I got with my LE. Do I have to upgrade, or I can I run it on Adapted? Thanks for all the help!

I believe what you are refering to is an Optigan keyboard that plays back the discs.
Mellotrons use strips of 3/4 inch tape with 3 tracks or sounds on each strip for all 35 keys.
Optigans never really got off the ground cause they were always breaking down.
