Bouncing is probably the better method, because it allows you to choose what kind of Dither to put on the output before you bounce. Personally, I recommend either Pow-R Type 3, or Megabitmax (included in the Izotope Ozone plugin).

I have had to convert files in many different formats and sampling rates. A program called Barbabatch does batch conversions if you have a lot of files to convert and don't want to wait for a real time bounce.

I have compared it's 44.1 to 48k conversion(And Vice Versa) to protools and it is better than the PTool conversion. I would assume it would do a nice job dithering . I have not tried that yet. You might want to check it out.

Does Barbabatch have choices for the conversion quality? What level of conversion quality were you using in Pro Tools?

Barbabatch is better than pro tools conversion only with the release of BB v4. It should be noted that Pro Tools tweak head and bias peak are currently tied in a very close second place...and have been considered the best software SRC for years up until BB v4 came out. The audible difference b/w the two, in my opinion, is pretty darn slim.

I wonder how Ptools 6.7's dither stands up to the BBatch? Does anybody know if they upgraded/changed it in 6.7?
I'm going to listen to the sample on bbatch's site before doing anything, but the waveforms look quite different, so I guess its worth the listen

Make sure you know the difference b/w dithering and SRC first...the two are really not related in any way and it baffles me just how many people on this forum use the two terms interchangeably.

Heh, I know the difference but didn't take the time to see what BB does, I thought they had better dither , but no?
