Is there a key to delete everything to the left of the playhead?

..Cause that's what I'd like to do. Also, it seems like my playhead is not a real playhead that I can click on and drag, but more of a ghostly line. Did I accidentally change a setting somehow?

Not sure but if you place the cursor, hit the B key(keyboard focus ON) to separate region(clip), you can click on the clip to the left and hit the delete key. That's pretty darn quick and easy. If this is all new stuff to you, I recommend hitting youtube and watching some Pro Tools tutorials on the basics. The A Key will trim to the selected position, getting rid of everything to the left in the current clip.

shift + return lets you choose everything to the left of the cursor. also hitting the up arrow lets you highlight the region from the cursor to where the playback head is in real time.
