Default 10.2 - uninstall or upgrade?

I wish AVID would chime in regarding uninstalling older versions. While it says in the installation PDF that older versions should be uninstalled, is 10.1.3 called an older version? Or are they referring to 9.0 and previous.

I did an upgrade install. First time it failed and I tried again and it is upgraded to 10.2 and works fine.

Should I uninstall and reinstall ProTools 10.2 at this point or am I fine?

In general, when the PT installer file is NOT an updater (which is the case for 10.2) you should ALWAYS uninstall and reinstall Pro Tools.
In this case I recommend to wait and see if you run into any problems but a new install would be the best thing to do. The 10.2 installer is not intended to be installed on top of an existing PT installation.

Yes, a clean install is always the best bet (if you have a complete installer).

This answered my question too. Thanks. What of the instrument installer though?

Are you asking about the free instruments like boom / xpand etc or things like Velvet / transfuser etc ?

Either way. The clean uninstall option will not remove these last ones nor the libraries of the free instruments. those are left alone. The 10.2 installer will automatically update any Avid plugins already installed on your system.

Thanks, Chris. That's what I wanted to know. Sorry, I was asking about both.

Thanks Chris for chiming in.
I installed 10.2 over 10.1.3. Is this OK or would it be better if I uninstall and do a fresh install of 10.2?

Hey guys, I noticed clean install here above is the best if not especially needed. Does this mean you've got to uninstall the HD driver too before?

I see in my software list:
-avid effects
-avid HD driver X68
-avid protools
-avid virtual instruments

My system is Windows7/SP1/32bit/PtsHDnative 10.1.2
