Pro Tools 8 worked after uninstall of IE8

Hi - I just joined this forum in hopes of helping someone avert the hours and hours of trial I have logged in trying to get my reinstall of Pro Tools 8 to launch after reinstalling due to my computer's HD failure.

I was unable to uninstall IE8 until a post by Microsoft technical gave a path to do so from the "RUN" box. This is the 2nd firsthand experience I have had with IE8 causing PT8 to not launch, etc. Several of the posts on this site had people expressing similar problems. I have reverted back to an earlier version of IE6 which is automactic. They say reverting from IE8 to the earlier 7 does NOT work as 8 is somehow based out of IE7 so take the necc. precautions before unistall.

My Pro Tols 8 launched first time, no problem after changing back over to earlier IE version. If you use Automatic Updates, which generally are reccomended, beware that IE8 may be one of the updates, so maybe set you UpD's accordingly.

This info may not solve many people's problems but if it helps someone not go through what I have its worth the trouble to get this posted. Blessings
