How to save half speed playback?
I know that shift-spacebar will play an audio track back at half speed. Is there a way to record that half-speed playback? Simply busing the track to another to record only yields the original waveform.
The reason I want to do this is to recover some old reel to reel taped audio which was recorded at a slower speed than my user machine is capable of playing back so that they get recorded at double-speed. Am I making sense? lol I guess I can always shove a mic in front of the speaker.....

Re: How to save half speed playback?
OK Never Mind. I just found out that I can use the Pitch Shift audio suite plugin. Works great! Can't figure out how to delete my original post though. Ah there's always a question I guess.

Re: How to save half speed playback?
I never used pitch shift plugins much, but I once found a way to do it with very little quality loss.
I wanted to speed up a session with audio tracks, and pitch shifting resulted in rubbish quality. So I exported all the files with a bit lower sample rate, imported them into the session again without sample rate converting, and they played back faster. Losing very little quality. If I wanted to go from 100 bpm to 110 (10%), that would mean saving a 48 khz file as 43,6 khz. A little tricky math here, it's easier when you wnt to slow things down. In your case Reeso, you could just record at 96khz and import them to a 48khz session, without converting. |
