What I would like to see in ProTools in 2024 !

2023.12 is working well for me. We do have 3 MIDI must-haves though for Pro Tools to "compete" with other software MIDI-wise and should be expected as a minimum for users in 2024.

1. MIDI loop record to playlists
2. Make MIDI recording and punch-ins non-destructive please (MIDI merge and loop recording to separate clips isn't enough for many workflows)
3. Export MIDI clip based on edit selection length

Is there a way to easily flip automation and/or paste an automation flipped as in panning the opposite way? If not, that'd be useful.

Or just make the other side follow or mirror the automated one without writing the other side, depending on how the sides are linked.

And undo/redo buttons in Avid's plugins. (More flexible than "compare")

Fix velocity randomize feature…in most forms of music you don’t want a lower velocity on the first note of a phase. I will feel like you are losing energy and people don’t play that way. Downbeats are accented. The velocity random feature is practically useless be cause of this and I have to do things manually.

I would love for Avid, to just freeze the features for a bit, and work through the code and the bug list, and clean it up a bit. Optimize.

1. Branched Undo/Redo History (an option to enable this mode)

2. Customizable split points for where bus & IO routing spills into another folder (such as in the Mix Window Sends popup. User-configurable in IO Setup with a new split/divider line option for where they occur - Custom-Labelling for headers. eg Mono Sends, Stereo Sends, Atmos Sends, SubMixes, etc.

3. Drum Pattern Editor for MIDI (like Cubase has had since Atari ST days ... 1989)

4. Fast-access Clip Gain amount settings (5 x settings) without needing to stop transport, and go into Pro Tools prefs. (an option for pop-up in the Edit Window header)

5. An option for smoothing-curve-shapes between automation points. (like Cubase has had since 2017)

6. An option for every module in Clip Effects to be completely deactivated on all new or existing audio tracks/clips.

7. 3rd party Plug-Ins allowed in Clip Effects.

8. 3rd party Instruments and Plug-Ins in Sketch.

9. An option to completely remove Sketch from the New Session window and disable completely from Pro Tools (without having to delve into the app package)

10. Complete customization for every single column in Memory Locations (Show/Hide, Position, Width, etc)

11. A User-List within Window Configurations for fast user-switching when collaborating with other Pro Tools users who have a different monitor setup.

12. An option to auto-apply a user-configurable default crossfade between clips when separating.

13. Much faster session load & close times.

14. An option to save screenshots for every single plugin within a session, so that another user can at least get an idea of settings even if they do not own a particular plugin - with a "View Screenshot/Buy Now/24-hour rental" option in the missing plug-in popup.

15. An option for Count-In Metronome/Click to be at the Tempo/Meter of the incoming section, not the previous section. A transparent large video/screen countdown overlay option would be nice too eg 4, 3, 2, 1 •

16. An option to completely hide the tabs at the bottom of the Edit Window (MIDI, Clip Effects, Melodyne, and whatever else is coming down the pipe)

17. More expansive details in CPU Usage. (ie a "shame" list for plugins, VI's)
