Confirmed. The PF610 does support headphone monitoring in stand-alone mode, but obviously, you need to have the line-lump power supply plugged in to do anything in stand-alone...

Or is 64 the lowest?

Are you asking about the Focusrite Liquid Saffire 56? (this thread has wandered lately). If so, I can not get to 32 samples. 64 is the lowest I get.

This is interesting as Mac users can get 32 using either 002 or 003 interface. Would be good to hear what PC users get for lowest buffer(since O.D. runs a Mac)

I find this quote from RME's website interesting re: the UC

Based on a newly developed RME Hammerfall core the Fireface UC provides revolutionary ultra-low latencies even with multiple channels. It uses two different firmware versions with different transfer methods to remove current restrictions of typical USB audio interfaces. The unit's operating mode Win or Mac can be changed directly at the unit at any time. Under Mac OS the Fireface's MIDI ports are class compliant, the operating system therefore automatically uses the included MIDI driver. Under both Operating Systems the available latencies* are simply sensational. The smallest buffer offered under Windows has 48 samples, under Mac OS X 14 samples. With this RME provides a performance previously not available from USB audio interfaces.

RME makes more than a few subtle hints that MS should take a cue from Apple's playbook. This is a USB interface with pretty exception latency values. I've been more concerned about MIDI latency and if anyone is interested in continuing that discussion the thread is open at the MIDI area here.

A bit OT, but RME's UC and Babyface must be using USB-2 Isosynchronous Mode. Occasionally a USB hub may revert back to USB 1.1 and then 2.0 is unavailable. So a lot depends on the manufacturer of the USB hub or the drivers for the hub. RME keeps hinting it is the OS itself, so who knows...

Those figures from RME must be 'best case scenario'. Generally I have been avoiding mixing the rear USB hubs, keeping 1.1 devices together and not mixing protocols.

Saffire 56 now can be set at 32 samples for a buffer in 9.03 :)
