Default Re: wont load

ok i spent 1.5 hours with sweetwater tech support, who by the way called avid and they gave him a list of other things to try besides what was in there knowledge base. we tried asio4all and still didnt load, we turned of virus protection. went through all the win7 optimize guide. removed all the plugins. thought might be the rewire from reason 6 and removed rewire. nothing worked.

next i used my support code and talked to him and he checked everything the sweetwater guy checked. he said that it looked like the new disk cache that hold the audio in memory instead of streaming it off the hard drive was not starting or allocating memory. this feature was not in 9 so thats why 9 works with no problem. maybe they need to have that as an option that you can turn on and off. i dont have any problems with audio streaming from my audio hard drive. so he told me that he would send it up to a higher tech level.

hey directx are you using a pc or mac?

Hi Agill711. Thanks for all the info. I basically went through the same steps with Avid tech support. Same results. There is obviously an issue with certain systems and the new disk cache feature. I'm running Win 7 x64. I have PT10HD running fine on my desktop (same OS) but it won't budge past this error -9514 on my HP laptop. If you make any progress please post an update and I’ll do the same.

Same issue here. PT 10 hangs on AirChorus. If I move that to unused plugins then it hangs on the next one.

Holding down the shift key does not prevent plugins from loading.

I got it to work on a win 7 64 bit laptop where I didn't have any plugins installed. But my main machine (also win 7 32 bit) still won't load it even if I remove all 3rd party plugins or even all plugins.

I uninstalled PT and reinstalled, no joy. Now instead of hanging on AirChorus it crashes when trying to load AirChorus.

Captured this in visual studio:

Same problem as you guys... won't load... hangs when it tries to load plugins.
I'm wiped out after tinkering around and lurking these forums for days straight...

The setup pulldown menu> playback engine> disk playback> cache size> normal.

Keep it on normal unless you have at least 6GB of RAM installed on a 64bit OS.
