Default "admin" vs "standard user" for 12.8

I am a PT instructor in process of upgrading my classroom workstations from PT 12.5 to PT 12.8. We are running Windows 7.

Everything works great on my "admin" (instructor) account. I am able to open sessions (for example the demo sessions included with 12.8).

However, the "standard user" (student) accounts cannot seem to access the audio output stream. Using asio4all with Behringer U-Phoria 2 channel audio interfaces on the student workstations.

This was never a problem with PT 12.5. Student accounts worked great.

Is there a new requirement to run PT 12.8 only in "admin" accounts? I would naturally rather not give my students admin access to the machines.

Thanks

Wish I could give a better answer, but it has always been recommended to run it on the Admin account. Can you verify that the PT shortcut on the desktops have been set to "Run as Admin"

Thanks for replying.

I always run my own sessions as admin. But as a teacher, it's not a good idea to give students admin privileges. And it was not previously required.

"Run as admin" option does not help, since the password needs to be entered every time. I would still need to give the students admin password.

Avid used to have a knowledgebase article about running PT in a non-admin environment, like schools or radio stations, where it wasn't desirable to supply users with admin privileges. Not sure if it still exists and/or if it's applicable to PT12. Perhaps it would be best to contact support.
