Default VU Meter Plugins and Gain Staging

I recently watched some videos on gain staging and realized that I've been skipping this insanely important step in the mixing process. Does PT 12 come with the Vu Meter plugin? If not, are they all pretty much the same? In the video the guy was using the VUMT Duo, which is pretty cheap, like $15. There are also a couple free ones I've found, the LSR Vu Meter is free and gets good reviews. It seems like such a simple plug I'm guessing they're all pretty much the same. Just looking for some opinions on this.

Thanks,
-Adam

PT vanilla 12.2 and later has VU and other "advanced" metering built-in. Right-click on a meter for a selection. Float the mixer channel to keep it in view if need be. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I wish we could just drag a master meter and make it a single floating meter ! Just like the send fader.

I think you can Command (Mac) and click the vertical line with a rectangle on the Master Fader (to look like a fader) in the edit window I/O and a floating fader and meter will appear.
The edit window I/O showing.

Good luck. .

Great ! Works under PT 10HD (my usual pro config at work) ! Will test it in my home-studio tonight with 12.6 !
Guess what... I'm quite a power user since 13 years with PT, and never knew it could exist Shame on me...
