Default clock problem!! 3X192 - 888 - 882

Hi, can anybody help with this?

I have 3 192's one 888/24 and a 882

This is how they're connected and set up

192A ----> expansion to 192B
192C ----> Legacy to Y cable to 882 and 888

How should I hook up clock for the 2 legacy things? (192's are ok in loop)

I tried clock routing like this:
192C ------> 888 ------->882 (882 DOESN'T WORK)
192C ------> 882 (FINE)
192C ------> 888 (FINE)

if I pick clock from a differnet 192 then the one I attach the legacy peripheral to, it doesn't work. (888 clock from 192C - 882 from say 192 A)

PS: System used to work hooked up like this (2X192's - 2X888 - 882)

192A ----->legacy Y to 888a - 882
192B ----->legacy to 888b
192A ----->clock 882 to 888a to 888b

never used a termination

Than you in advance, it's really driving me nuts

This should work, don't know why it doesn't.

You could first try 192C --> 882 --> 888 and see if it mysteriously works, doesn't cost anything. Sometimes I've seen that the clock output of a black interface doesn't work for some reason, you may have one of those boxes.

But if not, go to your local electronics store and buy a passive bnc splitter so that your 192C kind of has two ext.clock outputs. It drops the signal level somewhat but unless you have long cables it doesn't matter.

Thank you for your reply!

What you suggested used to work, but now all 192's and 888 are in adifferent room from 882 and I would have to buy a long bnc and pass it through the wall.

I will try both solutions!

PS: why didn't using another 192 (A or B) to clock the second legacy interface work?

Because A and B ext.clock is set to "1x normal word clock" (you connect another HD interface to it). Your C interface expansion port is set to legacy, which means the ext.clock changes to "256x superclock". If you only use two HD interfaces and two blackfaces, you can set both HD interfaces to legacy and use both of the ext.clock outputs.

On the other hand; if you had three card config, you could connect all three HD interfaces straight to cards and use the legacy expansion from two of them. So perhaps this is a good time to buy another dirt cheap pre-owned Accel card :)

I wish I could..

my sys is kinda blocked/maxed out. I would really need the extra card to connect another 8ch of out to consolle, but my PC has only 2 PCIx slots.. and my old G5 is slow as hell

Thanks for the clock info, didn't think about that!

Don't know what PT version you want to run, but any G5 runs PT HD 7.2 ... 7.4 just perfectly on Tiger. Just do a fresh install and refuse your urge to install anything extra to that system :)
