Works well here.

The annoying thing I noticed is that double-clicking on a midi clip (which should open the midi editor) only presents you with a tiny inconspicuous minimized box at the top left of the mix window that you have to manually open. This minimized window is so tiny/inconspicuous/unexpected that it took me a while to understand what was happening.

That wasn't happening in 12.8.1 which I was running before moving on to 2019. Bring-to-front doesn't work, because it is in front, only minimized. I haven't checked if this is random, but this seems to happen in new sessions; after a while double-clicking starts to open the midi edit window directly, as it should.

What system config is causing you trouble? Didn't mention which OS or hardware, but assuming you are using PT 2020.3 because posted on this folder...

Weird

I’m running 2020.3 in Sierra in an iMac i7

It opens the MIDI Editor window but there’s no MIDI info shown at all
(Even though the track plays and ‘works’) etc. )

Well then, isn't it kind of obvious your problem might be related to unsupported configuration?

Hey William,

I installed 2020.3 on my Sierra partition to test it for you. MIDI editor opens and notes are visible. Nothing out of the ordinary. Whilst it may not be a supported configuration, I don't think that's your problem.

Does this happen with existing sessions or also new ones? The below image was with a freshly created session in 2020.3. Would be interesting to see if you've tested it with a new session or just a pre existing session that may have been created in an older version of Pro Tools.

thanks,
yes, I didn't think it would have to do with the OS either... and it was happening with all sessions, whether new or not.

I (reluctantly) did a reinstall of 2020.3 and that seems to have fixed it.
