Does PT display the number of tracks selected anywhere?

Does PT display the number of tracks selected anywhere? I can't see it. If I select 26 tracks, especially if they're not contiguous, do I have to count them by hand?

My not so great workaround:

1. Save
2. Select the tracks you wanna count
3. Make sure at least one of the tracks isn't empty.
4. Go to 'Track' - 'Delete...'

PT will now display this message:

'Active clips were found on some or all of the (number of tracks) selected, Do you still want to delete these tracks?'

5. 'Cancel'

This way PT tells you the exact number of tracks you've selected.

Here goes: I have 450 mono tracks to transform into ST, while transferring the track names. The method is to create stereo tracks and drag the mono tracks onto them. I work in logical groups. Sometimes, for example, I have to take 36 mono tracks and drag them onto 18 ST tracks. I'd like to know when I get to 36 selected tracks.

But there are other uses. I've just spent a year working with Nuendo and I've got used to this function. You always know the number of tracks selected, or the number of clips. But that's not so bad, I'll manage. I need to rethink in PT. Just a little time.

Useful, thank you. But AVID should think about it. It's an easy implementation. This number must be present in the programming when there is a selection.

Interesting. You could show the track numbers and do the math.

10 “tracks name” + 36 = 46 “track name”

It doesn't, and I wish for it on an almost daily basis.

You can do this with Soundflow. I like to see selected track counts all the time, I just hit a button on my StreamDeck and it tells me how many tracks are selected.

I had a feeling this could be solved with Soundflow but hadn't looked. Is it one of the built-in macros or did you have to build it?

Would be nice if it didn't involve multiple clicks and Pro Tools just displayed it though...

It's available in one of the Add-Ons in the Soundflow App Store. I think it's called something like Pro Tools Utilities
