Default Where is the preference file?
Maybe I'm missing something here, but where is the pt preference file?

It's been a while since I've used the troubleshooting of trashing the pt pref file. Now that I want to trash it, I can't find it.

It used to be in MacHD/Library/preferences/Avid, right? Theres is nothing there. I've also looked in documents, as someone on avid facebook suggested. Still can't find it.

Am I missing something here, or can someone give me a clue?

Get the Pete Gates (he's a user here) utility to do the deed. And it's free.

I tried Pete Gates software now, and the strange thing is, that it couldn't find the PT pref file either. Hmm. There is nothing in users/documents/PT Prefs

Cpu clipping for no reason.

Shouldn't there be a pref file somewhere. Now I'm curious, cuz I can't find anything.

Maybe start with sharing your system setup, like OS version and PT version and whatever interface you are using. Just to double-check that they are supposed to be compatible.

Sorry, yes here it is

PT Ultimate 2020.3 / OS 10.14.6 / Mac pro (late 2013) - 2.7 Ghz 12 core xeon E5 / 64 GB RAM / Universal Audio Apollo 8 duo

I'm able to run pro tools, sometimes with large sessions, sometimes (as now) with cpu spikes.

I've trashed the pref before on this computer, guess it was pt 2018 or 2019. When the file was in MacHD/Library/Pref/Avid

When have you last clean installed that thing? I have almost same spec and 2020.3 runs wonderfully on this clean installed Catalina
