Default Easy software for Mbox

While I love ProTools LE, is there any other easy-to-learn software or shareware that works with it for simple 2-track recording and editing?

We run a student lab, and some only need simple recording of voiceovers or narrations for student projects. ProTools is overkill for this.

Thanking anyone for suggestions.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">just because its multi-track doesn't mean its overkill. i think you'll find the non-destructive editing in PT pretty awesome and much faster than other wave editors.

Are you using a Mac? If so you may get a better response from the Mac forum.. I would recommend SoundForge for a simple two track wav recorder, but it is expensive. You may as well use PTLE since it came with your Mbox..

They are also starting betatests with the m-box. If you didnt purchase it yet, you could try Protools FREE, wich is....free

It is limited to 8 tracks, but will work with some standard soundcards. I think the editing abilities of ptfree are the same as ptle, so there's no difference...

It is very very important to understand that ptfree is not like ptle, although it looks the same. The internal programs are completely different, and ptle runs much smoother. But on the other hand, there are users that are quite happy with ptfree. Just give it a go, and if it doesnt work like it sohould.....switch over to mbox & PTLE..(if its then available for pc...)

Ya, PT Free would be a nice choice, PT is clean and clear, doesn't like other fancy programes (looks fancy)

just creat a mono audio track and it becomes a mono track recorder .... ^_^

everythings are clear and good for teaching because you have to route the setup by yourself (good for learning), student can see how to input, insert and bus.....
